Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) by Jeffrey LaGrasso, MD

As we get older, it is common to notice loosening of the skin above or a puffy appearance below your eyes.  Upper eyelid skin laxity may present as difficulty for you to put on eyeshadow makeup.  Lower eyelid skin laxity may present as bagginess or dark circles under your eyes or a tired appearance.  We provide solutions to these common complaints through simple upper and lower eyelid surgery.

Am I a good candidate for eyelid surgery?
If you feel your upper eyelids are hanging low enough to prevent you from putting on eyeshadow or even affecting your vision, you may be a candidate for upper eyelid surgery.  You may also feel that there is this baggy, tired appearance below your eyes despite a good sleep habit.  This may make you a candidate for lower eyelid surgery. In your private consultation with Dr. LaGrasso, you will be educated on your different surgical options, if any, and the best way to treat your concerns.

Where do you perform these types of eyelid surgeries?
Due to the nature of these surgeries and Dr. LaGrasso’s experience, you may have the option of having these procedures done under local anesthesia in the office, or under iv sedation in an outpatient surgical center.

How long is the recovery process for eyelid surgery?
You should anticipate generalize swelling, tightness, and bruising for at least one week.  Expect the bruising to resolve sooner than the overall swelling.  It’s important to stay out of direct sun exposure throughout the post op period as dictated by Dr. Lagrasso.  You can expect to be back to work within 10-14 days.

How much will eyelid surgery cost?
The cost of this procedure depends upon it being performed in the office vs. outpatient, as well as it being upper eyelid vs. lower eyelid surgery.  After being educated by Dr. LaGrasso on your surgical surgical option, you will be quoted a price.
