Medical Aesthetic Procedures

Not all patients require cosmetic surgery to reach their personal aesthetic goals. In fact, the majority of cosmetic procedures performed in the United States are non-surgical in nature.  These include Botox Cosmetic and Dysport for wrinkle reduction, as well as Dermal Fillers like Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Sculptra for volume enhancement. Both Drs Shapiro and LaGrasso are trained in these simple, non-surgical injectable procedures that help our patients reach their goals of restoring a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance

Botulinum (Type A) Injectible Procedures

These procedures use Botulinum, Type A, which is a protein designed to relax specific facial muscles for a limited amount of time. You can expect the results of these procedures to last 3-5 months.

There are 3 products on the market, BOTOX Cosmetic®, Dysport®, and the newest one, Xeomin®. These 3 products all use Botulinum Type A as their active ingredient to create a reduction in wrinkles through facial muscle relaxation.

These 3 procedures are all done in the office, without the need for anesthesia, and you can expect to see the medication taking effect 3 – 10 days after injection.

BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin are excellent office-based procedures for the nonsurgical approach to softening fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes (Crow’s Feet), between your eyes (Angry 11’s), as well as your forehead (Worry Lines).

Dermal Filler Injectible Procedures

These procedures use different types of filling substances to add volume under the skin where you are experiencing volume loss due most commonly to the natural aging of your facial skin. Similar to the botulinum injectible procedures, these procedures are also done in the office however we use local as well as topical numbing medication to allow for a pleasant experience.

These injectible procedures are different from botulinum injectible procedures in that there is an immediate filling effect noticed after the procedure (with the exception of Sculptra). Dermal Filler results can be seen right away.

This is a great procedure to add volume to your cheeks, nasolabial folds (smile lines or parentheses), lips, as well as your temples and deep creases between your eyes.

There are several products on the market. In this office, we advocate the use of the following medications:
Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, and Sculptra®
